SPORTS: Police arrest Peeping Tom for stalking of ESPN reporter Erin Andrews

USA --

The alleged stalker of ESPN reporter Erin Andrews is allegedly 48-year-old Michael David Barrett, a bland insurance salesman who in his spare time tracked the TV sports reporter across the country and repeatedly tried to get close to her. He doctored the peepholes on hotel-room doors and made eight videotapes on a cellphone camera of a nude Andrews, which he tried to sell to the celebrity-news site TMZ.com and also put on the Internet.

FBI agents and Andrews reviewed the videos and found all but one were appeared to have been filmed at the Marriott Nashville at Vanderbilt University. The affidavit says that Andrews stayed in room 1051 on Sept. 4, 2008, while Barrett occupied the adjacent room, room 1049.

The peephole in the door of Andrews' room appeared to have been altered - with a hacksaw - to allow a cellphone camera to film inside.

The FBI affidavit said that when Barrett made his reservation for the Marriott, he specifically requested a room next to Andrews, according to the AP. Here's what the records in the hotel's computer showed: "INFO-GST RQST TO RM NXT TO (individual A)" and aother line listed this email address, Mike.Barrett@Combined.com, according to the FBI documents.

FBI agents also visited the Ramada Conference Center in Milwaukee, where the FBI says Barrett booked a room for a night when Andrews was staying there, the AP says. The peephole in her room that night had been altered in a similar way as the Marriott room's peephole, the story says.

According to the affidavit, an FBI agent interviewed the hotel's chief engineer who'd worked at the hotel for 15 years. He said that in his 15 years, "had had never seen a "peepsight" (peephole device) in that condition."

This is ridiculous! It seems that hotels were able to not only tell him if Erin was staying there but also put him in the room next to her?

The hotel management should be sued as well!

Michael David Barrett will soon be going CAMPing with the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP). Read this post by a recent former inmate at the same "camp" as Joe Nacchio is currently hanging out at on the grounds of the Federal Bureau of Prison's Schuylkill FCI in Minersville, Pennsylvania:http://fprison.wordpress.comhttp://fprison.wordpress.com It's a non-stop party on the taxpayer dollar. That will teach Michael David Barrett a lesson.
