"Cash for Clunkers" kicks off today, July 24th. Although nicknamed "Cash for Clunkers," it is officially named the Car Allowance Rebate System (CARS, no!). WORLD: Recession Update: US GDP down by record 3.8% in the last quarter
USA, New York The US economy shrank by 3.8% in the last quarter and is supposed to continue the downward trail. This is primarily attributed to one of the worst consumer spending since World War II.
The expected number was higher than 3.8%, but due to increase in inventories (due to unsold products), the number wasn't that bad. Though if you take into account for the unsold inventory, the number is supposed to be 5.1%.
