Michelle Obama on Leno by SNAFU

ENTERTAINMENT:  Barack Obama's Most Annoying Habit? Winning at Tennis

Michelle Obama appeared on Jay Leno's new primetime show (via satellite feed from the White House) last night. When asked about the most annoying habit President Barack Obama has, the First Lady brought up his prowess at a sport: tennis. "He has no annoying habits, right Jay? None, you know; he's perfect. But you know what, when he beats me at tennis, that gets to be pretty annoying. And he beats me quite often." Michelle should take him on in bowling. As many probably recall, the President... Roger Federer by Hammer

SPORTS:  Unbelievable Shot by Roger Federer Wins Him the US Open - With Video

New York, NY This shot by Roger Federer isn't just amazing because of its complexity, but more so because it is the actual shot that wins Federer the US Open this year.  While he makes it look so God Damned easy, it blows my mind that he is capable of pulling it off with such ease.  There is no doubt in my mind that to date, Roger Federer is the greatest tennis player of all time. While I would love to continue, Huffington Post has a great short piece on this so I will pass the torch to the... Full Story

Serena Williams by Hammer

SPORTS:  Video: Serena Williams Shows her Colorful Side

New York, NY Serena Williams, currently worlds number 2 female tennis player, had a little problem on the court today. Williams was levied with a $10,000 fine by the U.S. Open for unsportsmanlike conduct on Sunday for her foul-mouthed tirade at a line judge the night before, as she slumped to a semifinals defeat to Kim Clijsters. The fine was the maximum possible at this stage. An additional $500 fine for racket abuse was also imposed by tournament referee Brian Earley, but those on-site punishments... Full Story

Melanie Oudin by Hammer

SPORTS:  Sharapova is Beat by 17 Year Old Melanie Oudin

New York, NY In a stunning defeat, 29th ranked Maria Sharapova is beaten by 17 year old, 70th ranked, Melanie Oudin in the U.S. Open.  Oudin beat Sharapova 3-6, 6-4, 7-5.  This type of thing happens often in tennis, a lower ranked player taking out a higher ranked player, but Oudin is currently on a role.  She added this upset to one over No. 4 Elena Dementieva in the second round and a win over former No. 1 Jelena Jankovic this year at Wimbledon. Pickerball, I've Got It (Sample?) by Hammer

SPORTS:  Only in America: Pickleball

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina A new sport is hitting the circuit ... Pickleball.  It looks to be a cross between Ping Pong, Tennis and Badminton.  Technically, this sport is far from new according to Wikipedia, it was founded in 1965, strangely in the USA.  But, it is new to me, which is all that matters.  Just in case you are very curious,  there is a USA Pickleball Association. Apparently there was recently a Pickerball tournament held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  Approximately 40... Full Story
