A Man And His Unusual Pets
Somewhere in Russia there lives a man who raises animals for sale. It may sound quite ordinary but the fact is that his pets are charitably speaking unusual. He has foxes of different breeds and colours, bobcats, ferrets, huskies and even bears! It seems that all the animals live in peace with each other and with their master as well!
I wish I has a fox :)
Delightful! Thanks!
CAN I MARRY THIS MAN?!?!?! <3
Wow. All the people here who think oh my gosh precious babies! Try working in the Zoo for a year. Wild animals are not pets, they are wild. It's a different story if these are domesticated, but in the real world with the average person/ animal. Your going to get your fingers bit off. stop pretending its a happy fantasy animal world where we can frolick with the bears. Ever seen fatal attractions on Animal Planet? It's not anti pet, its promoting safety for the animals and people. Holly is correct, there are so many factors here we don't know and its very possible that these animals are being used for the fur trade or other not so mushy reasons.
For those saying that these animals should be in the wild...I'm not sure how this guy started coming across these animals, but since he breeds them, they are born into domesticity.I'm sure if he let them back into the wild, they wouldnt even know what to do with themselves. Sure they have instincts, but theyve been softened by being taken care of by a human. To let them loose now would be murder as I'm sure most of them were born already in his care. Not saying I would recommend anyone else to go capture a bobcat and try to keep it as a pet. But obviously he's been doing this for a while, and respects them and their needs. So let a man have his passion. Its not like everyone is doing this, and it's become a problem.Myself, I would love to have a silver fox.
Anytime me and my mom would see an animal(wild or domestic) I would ask one question: "Does it bite?" She had only one response: "Does it have teeth?"
All animals have instincts. All of them. We cannot condemn people for living with wild animals if we also choose to live with the "domestic". All animals will bite, scratch and do any number of things if they feel threatened. This is because they are ANIMALS. Large domestic dogs have killed people. Rats and other domestic rodents bite when they get nervous. Domestic cats technically dont exist in many states in the US. They are mostly all considered feral.
If people choose to live with wild animals that is their choice. Its not irresponsible, its dangerous. They should know this before they do it.
oh jeez, i am so jealous. or your cats and the foxes. darn darn darn, you are lucky!
Wow, there are so many negative comments from people who think they know everything. To all of you naysayers: shut up, who cares? Control freaks always putting in your ignorant opinions. Go back to your stupid american dream of living in ignorance, fear, complete stupidity and lack of creativity and imagination. Just because YOU can't see several animals living together in harmony as a possibility doesn't mean it isn't possible. Worry about your own lives and just enjoy the beautiful pictures being presented to you.
For everyone else: Yay, I love the pictures of the fox looking at the computer and the bobcat (lynx) - awesome. Thank you.
Wouldn't it have been easier for him to go and live in the wild?
I am of the opinion Wild animals belong in the wild also however, I would never judge anyone for owning one. I understand the attraction they are beautiful. And some people just have a gift a way with animals any animal. So I believe they are living in peace in this amazing house. I especially loved the pic of the bobcat with the domestic cats sleeping in the overstuffed chair they all look so happy. I believe that is what heaven will be like. I love to see that.
Wild animals are not and should not be pets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All darkness aside .... Loved & cherished friends! Not owned; living in harmony with .... note the surroundings.
While this all looks adorable, and I know I would love to visit them to see everything in person, am I the only person that see's this ending incredibly badly? Sorry, but most of these are wild animals that you can't necessarily compare to dogs and cats. Remember the chimp that attacked and almost killed the woman in 2009ish? Wild animals are not pets.
That is positively way too cute. I am quite jealous. I would love to be surrounded day in and day out by such beautiful animals!!! and to previous comments......it is possible to breed dogs and foxes, they have the same number of chromosomes and they actually are both technically canines. Idk if the ones pictured are crossbreeds or a type of fox, but yeah...just wanted to point out that yes it is possible.
People stop saying "husky/fox hybrids" that is not possible husky=Canie fox=Vulp <
Actually If you think about it they do tecnicaly belong to the same family if you look back a bit in history. And plus while wolfs have been bred to dogs (The Siberian Husky being a perfect example) They have also been bred to foxes. Ergo, it should be possible to breed a husky to a fox.
I feel like the definition of "domestication" is being confused here. Upon domesticating an animal, we human selectively breed all wild traits out of an animal to create and animal that has traits we like. These traits typically don't make an animal suited for living in the wild, as they are no longer "fit" for that but "fit" for us. No chihuaha or any domestic dog, house cat, etc would survive well in the wild, they just wouldn't. This is why many domestic species have genetic issues, high rates of deformity, etc. Foxes, the ones pictured above, may be in line for domestication, which takes decades to hundreds of years, but for now they still are wild animals, fit for a wild life, meaning that a typical house environment is not suitable. Anyone owning wolf/coyote/fox/wild cat hybrids can attest to the higher energy of these species and the greater need for enrichment. They are still wild, and have the survival instinct, per se.
A person can not "own" a living thing. That is bondage.
To all of you who would like to "own" one of these beautiful and magestic creatures - you have a woeful lack of respect for life in general.
Haven't we domesticated enough animals already?
... does nobody else notice the foxes humping?
I've been a wildlife animal care technician for over 6 years, and I can honestly say in some circumstances it is alright to domesticate wild animals, but only if they are unable to be returned to the wild or are on the brink of extintion. Too many times has our facility recieved a wildlife animal that was kept as a "pet" until it reached the age of maturity and posed a threat. Now this poor animal will never be able to be released. I don't know for sure the circumstances for which the above animals are being housed in a domestic residence but I pray the owner understands the risks and repercautions for his actions. They do look healthy and well-feed, but like I've stated, these are wild animals and will be most happy in their natural habitat.
Wow. Seriously, people. This guy probably knows what he's doing. You don't know the whole story. Stop being judgemental.
And to the people saying they belong in the wild: Those foxes were bred into captivity/domestication. Releasing them into the wild would probably kill them. And I highly doubt he breeds bobcats and bears. They're probably rescues, incapable of living on their own. Stop being ignorant and pessimistic.
These animals are indeed beautiful. Foxes probably CAN be domesticated but I believe it would take a long time to do so. Anyone keeping a wild animal in their home should take EXTREME caution everyday and give it plenty of space. If raised with love and affection they may live out their days in your home without a problem. However, if they get slightly pissed off at you in JUST the wrong way they will attack. It could be a no-big-deal thing or a fatal attack. Even large or small dogs can do the same as a wild animal if they are scared. Domestic cats can also be dangerous if they feel threatened. No one should keep a wild animal in their home for their own safety. With the proper knowledge on the breed and how exactly to care for it, keeping a wild animal will be less of a danger, but still a danger. Just watch Fatal Attractions on Animal Planet to hear stories of wild animal owners who were attacked. This man/family whatever should be very careful with these creatures. Its only a matter of time before someone is hurt.
Look at all the cans of worms you opened when all you wanted was to show off your unique, and beautiful pets! They truly are beautiful. I enjoyed your photos thank you for sharing them.
Have a nice day.
hahah! thst's deadly! :D the wee cuties! :)
Awwww they're all soo cute iI wish they were mine!
Yes theses animals look happy, and Im sure they are but people need to remember the breeder/owner has experience taking care of exotic animal and adopting a bear or fox is NOT NOT NOT like a cat or dog. They do not and will never have the sam interest in associating or playing with humans as domesticated animals do. They may be house tamed, but they will always be wild and unless you have time to devote hours to interacting with them and lots of money to provide the PROPER environment, things can can wrong...aka events you see on tv like when chimps, raccoons, or tigers attack their owners- even after having them for 10+ years. These are not pets, they are wild animals, and need to be respected not played with
Jesus. This is really scary. Stop supporting this nonsense and stop trying to domesticate new breeds when we can barely take care of the ones humans have already domesticated. Bears? Really? All of these animals are adorable, but are really not safe to keep as pets. Let's stop fucking with nature for like two seconds and try to fix the problems we already have.
This really isn't the best idea. I can't speak for the foxes or huskies but the cat and the bear are extremely dangerous. I'm not saying the animals aren't happy, they look very happy, but it is super dangerous and no one should do it unless trained. They are still wild animals and LIKE the domestic cat and dog, will turn on you in a split second. The domestic cat and dog just don't do it all the time, because they are domesticated and have been breed with calm genes.
For those saying that all house pets were once wild. false. dogs are only alive because of humans, and were % DOGS were never wild. they were bred FROM wolves but were always domesticated.
these animals should be in the wild. not in captivity. not as pets. these animals were never made to be pets. I think it's fucked.
Jeezus people!! I think we all need to get a grip and calm the fuck down, just saying. All that is on this website are pictures showing a brief glimpse of this person's animals. I'm pretty sure that if the animals weren't 'living in harmony' that he wouldn't let them wander around TOGETHER. And hey, who knows, perhaps this dude DOES have a large plot of land for these animals to run around on, but what the fuck does it matter?? The whole intention of this site was for this guy to show off his exotic pets and not for people to be all PETA on his ass.
These animals shouldn't live in houses. Besides, they're endangered species. They're no pets, or tamagotchis. And nobody should own them, or make money with them. These are wild animals, and it's illegal to traffic them. They should be set free.
That is absolutely wrong in every way. This man should not be keeping these animals for sale. These animals are WILD and should be set free back into nature. Under no circumstances should they be kept like that in one house together and treated as pets. These animals should be set free and live in their natural habitat.
I think this is wrong! These animals are wild! In my opinon you shouldn't do this raising them to be sweet little pets. I'm sure they use them for money, and even raising a wild animal from birth they are wild and could turn on anyone! I really don't think this is cool. Everyone has there own opinon though.
If no animal can be domesticated why do we have "pets" in the first place =/ they look happy, really happy actually lolz their livin' the life xD
Why is everyone freaking out? These animals are obviously happy and the people who are raising them obviously seem to be happy. I love these pictures and wish there were more and less of these negative people commenting.
OMGoodness! I am SOOO jealous!!! I want a red fox for a pet! But I don't think that it'll be as happy here as in the wild. I have 16 acres, but also two dogs, a cat and there are a ton of coyotes around... :( sad!
Holly Moley am I jealous, you've got to be so lucky to have all those beautiful friends there to protect you.....
I would very much like to have a domesticated red/silver fox.
Dude has the same lap top as me.
I love the picture of the dogs humping...nice choice...
By the way, for everyone that thinks this is wrong and cruel, keep in mind that these animals will live a much longer, healthier and happier life than they would in the wild. They are lucky. They look like they have adjusted well to the domestic life and probably love getting good meals everyday, lots of love and companionship and someone to care for them and make sure they are happy and healthy. I personally don't see anything wrong with that.
I feel bad for the poor dogs and cats that get beaten, neglected and abused by their owners. Some of them would be better off in the wild, not having to suffer everyday. That is wrong. This is in no way considered to be animal abuse, so what is the problem?
i need to meet this dude. this looks AWESOME!!!!
wow can't you see how beautiful they are my God. by the I am studying veterinary medicine and I started a new project to teach the society how to treat their animals and now I am writing project proposal and any body who is really willing to help me out I will be glad to work with cause two is better than one and you can help in any way you want and please lets change the minds of Ethiopian citizens towards the way they treat their animals and I will do anything to make it happen because I love all animals and I don't want to watch them suffer like they have nobody any body who wants to ask me please write for me at docabena@gmail.com lets protect them together
STOP FIGHTING!!! these are picures online its not the end of the world. Agree to disagree and move on with youre lives. Fighting is not fun. Admit these animals are cute and move on. No big deal.
the 13th picture down, the one with the 3 cats on top of the chair and the big wild cat sitting in the chair, it looks photoshopped
It would be a dream to visit all these fur babies. What a wonderful communitie you have made for them!
you know what my favorite part of looking at cute pictures of foxes is? reading all the jackass comments below it. i miss the days when every blessed thing didn't have a comment section. not a damn person on her knows anything about these people or these foxes, yet every single one of you thinks you can speak with authority on the subject.
what a pack of dumbasses. it's pictures of foxes and bears. say 'aw' and move on.
pour animal thir will be happier free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you dont think that these teeth could rip your face off? try googling "fox biting". these animals belong in the wild for their safty and ours. even if they don't hurt their owner they could hurt someone else. then they go to court and the animal gets put down. leave these animals where they belong, in the wild!
i wonder why dose pretty and 1derful pet re 4 sell
I wonder if people realize that wild animals are ones that were raised by...wait for it...wild animals. Any animal if taken from essentially birth will not act as a wild animal. These creatures are intelligent and are taught fairly easily. You could have a pet bear and it won't kill you unless you harm its owner or harm it. Animals are much like humans in the sense that they love those that love them. A fox couldn;t kill an adult what so ever either. They are shy and timid and if they were going to kill someone it would take a pack of them. People should be able to have any pet they want as long as they raise them properly from the time it leaves its mother to the time of it's natural death.
I fell like this might be illegal........
Umm yeah... foxes are cute but srsly have any of you ever been up close and personal with one.. because they stink... no, really, they smell like skunks! I wouldn't want one in my house much less three or more! Phew!!!
I just died of cuteness overload >.< lol
I am totally jelous of your wonderful life! Your family members are so very cool! Thank you for your service to all your critters. Many blessings to you and yours.
hey, I can not believe. They live as likely as human being in enjoying their life. and the animal are so beautiful, cleanful and lovely.
Living with these beautiful creatures must be truly a blessing, I can understand how a human can become so close to gods creatures. I myself would be in total awe of being so privaleged. Keep up the great work.To be one with these beautiful animals is very special in deed.
in thomastown, ireland there is a man called patsy gibbons that has a pet fox grainne. he walks around town with grainne on his shoulders. he even went to the primary school and let the older students pet her, it was great fun! we all love grainne because she is the most adorable thing ever! patsy found her when she was 3 weeks old and took care of her because she was very malnourished.
where did he get all those animals?

wow nice.
I personally love these pictures. The animals look happy, well-fed, and loved dearly. I believe that's all that should matter here and now. Sure, "wild and free animals" is usually the best thing, and yes this is an experiment to domesticate wild animals. But, I'd rather the animals be safe and warm in a house rather than hunted down to near-extinction. Look at the zoo. There is so much controversy going on about them, but they're saving our animals so maybe one day, we can set them free again. If you really love animals, why can't you just be happy to see them happy?
"To those who are opposed to domestication of any animals: would you rather we hunt them down and kill them? i.e. FOX hunts? Poaching? Sports hunting? Which seems more humane here??"Here's an example of ignorance. No, we wouldn't RATHER that. A true animal lover knows that these animals aren't pets. EDUCATE YOURSELF.
This isn't okay. Owning wild animals is completely unacceptable. Here's what will happen, one of the animals will use its natural instincts and attack him. That poor animal that should be in the wild in the first place, will be killed, and no good will come of it. WILD ANIMALS AREN'T PETS. HUMANS are TOO stupid to have figured this out yet. Trust me, I am a zoology major, and when I was little I always wanted a Tiger as a pet, but I educated myself and I realized this isn't where they belong. It puts both of us in danger. It's not okay, admire them from a far and let them live how they were meant to live. It's reasons like this all of our beloved animals are going extinct. Stop the ignorance. Educate yourself.
Okay for one thing, those are not foxes with husky markings, they are actual husky puppies. There is a big NOTICABLE difference there. The foxes have been bred down for MANY years into domestication.
Oh, one more thing...anyone ever thought that maybe he's trying to work to save some species?? They may not be endangered now, but 10 years from now? Who knows? domestication, while not always ideal in many cases, actually saves lives and species. If we don't take care of our world as it is, someone has to step up and make sure these animals have a home somewhere, and are able to function in that home.
To those who are opposed to domestication of any animals: would you rather we hunt them down and kill them? i.e. FOX hunts? Poaching? Sports hunting? Which seems more humane here??
i want them!!!
I think that the main problem here is that there are way too many animals living in a small area. How could one person, or even a family (I'm assuming it's only as large as a family because he calls them pets) take care of that many animals? Putting aside feeding, grooming, and cleaning up after all these animals, how could he possibly have time to give each one the love and affection they deserve? Especially considering they are wild animals, or are not that many generations off of wild animals, they need constant human/other animal socialization to be fit for this lifestyle depicted in these pictures.
All that aside, these pictures are absolutely adorable.
I'm pretty certain that these foxes are the result of selective breeding - breed the tamest to the tamest until you have bred the wild out of them. Google: Belyaev experiment and you will see that scientists have been doing this with silver foxes. It's the same thing ancient man did to get a dog from a wolf. They are no more wild than your lap dog is, but they are still foxes and will act different than dogs. They are very expensive pets, so people purchasing them are more likely to care for them and to find them a home if they no longer want them. All pets have the potential for being abused, humans are just rotten sometimes.I doubt that the bobcat and bear are being raised as pets, too much risk, but with his apparent experience working with animals they can live with him on their own terms as friends. Not domestic, but not totally wild either. They will always be somewhat dangerous, but if you know what you are doing the risk is minimal.
Seriously? Bobcats, bears, these are wild animals! They don't magically become domesticated just because they were born inside. These animals belong outside, in the wild, so that when their instincts kick in, they don't kill somebody! This man is incredibly irresponsible (wires that can easily be chewed through in the pictures!) to breed and sell these animals.
First off, I think what you're doing and how you're doing it is AMAZING. I love the pix. You have some real gold in there. Really cute and amazing shots. So, are these guys potty trained? I'm just thinking of all the potential mess...
am i the only one that thought of the foxhound logo from metal gear solid?
These animals are very appealing looking and appear to be healthy and well adjusted. So evidently they are receiving proper humane care. But after they are sold, what becomes of them? No one can guarantee what care they will receive? Abuses and unfortunate cercumstance happens to even non-wild pets. Even domesticated these animals have special issues that are beyond the scope of the average person ated to deal with.
Great photos. Beautiful animals. While these may have been wild animals at one time, they appear to be domesticated now. They look healthy and happy, I just hope nothing happens to the owner because they would probably not survive on their own.
As someone who has owned maynx cats (very wild house cats) and now owns a mix Chow/Wolf dog I have to say my dog is much easier to live with than the cats ever were.
My dog is by far the best dog I've ever owned. I've had several pure breeds and they have been high strung or hard headed and difficult to train. Rusty is loyal to a fault, has never in his entire life chewed on anything, not even rawhide bones, will sleep all day in his bed when left alone, only eats when given food in his pan, know exactly what you are asying to him and has never had any formal dog training. He's 15 years old and I will miss him like a child when he dies.
If these animals are healthy and happy and well cared for what do all of you care? Just asking.
Read about this in National Georaphic-fascinating!
Such a controversial subject! I have read many "It is absolutely wrong to keep wild animals as pets" statements. Well, yes, that's why they were domesticated.
Is it ok to domesticate animals who have always been wild? I say they probably have been domesticated at some point in the past also and have just learned how to live in the wild again. Certainly cats that have been raised indoors can adapt to living outdoors during the short span of their lives. I would not advise it primarily for the reason that there are already many animals being put down in animal shelters all over the country. Why add more to that? I'm sure that it is fine to do it and will not adversely affect that individual animal. How will it affect the species?
I don't think it is any more selfish to want an animal breeded specifically for you than to want your very own baby instead of adopting one without a home. No, that child will not be put down, they will be shuffled through poor living conditions and varying caliburs of foster homes until they are old enough to make their own (generally) bad decisions. That being said, I don't think either are wrong. Just be careful who you're calling selfish.
My thoughts.....
Cute pics. Adorable actually
Be cool to have one but we dont need them. We were all fine without one before seeing these pics.
Breeding is wrong and unessasary now. Too many pets die every year. Adopt a pet that needs a home and could die tomorrow.
Things can be domesticated, doesn't mean we should.
People are awful to each other.
I love these pictures, especially the foxes and bobcat. I would also love to visit this man's house.
For all who say they want a fox, look up the Shiba Inu breed of dog. I can't tell you how many times I have been asked if she is a fox.
So many judgemental people here, many of whom have no idea how wonderful animals are. I have a Coy (half coyote/half husky), and he is one of the most lovable dogs you will ever meet. He lives with a pack of 4 dogs in my house. Two of the others are husky crosses, and the other is full Cocker Spaniel. He is gentle and generally the one of my dogs who will alert me to problems with any of the other pets in the house. I also have cats and a Cockatoo. ALL of the animals intermingle as a single pack. Believe it or not, the Cockatoo and one of the cats sleep and eat together!!! They are the best of friends. When animals are raised with love and patience, they become part of the family. It is the Owner of said animals who determines how they will behave. My dogs all know that I am the Pack Leader. And that is that.
Also, yes Huskies do need to run. I have an acre of land with Invisible Fencing so that I know my boys are safe. But as Bens above said, more than that they require companionship. They are NOT the best guard dogs, due to their friendliness. Anyone who knows and has researched the breed, knows this.
Also to Bens - be glad it was just remotes and books - mine took out a couch...seriously. And you don't ever want to try to count how many feathers there really are in a down pillow. Just saying!!!
Thank you for sharing your life with these lovely creatures in photos. I especially like the photo of your wife and the bobcat. beautiful - both of them.
cool and cute pets
These pictures are so cute. :) Those little critters with husky coats, are those foxes or husky pups? Wither way, they're precious.
And now for my two cents: Animals have been domesticatedby humans for thousands of years. Many societies that are well-established today would not exist if it weren't for the help of domesticated dogs and horses. I agree that not every single animal needs to be domesticated; nature would not be the same if there were no more wild animals. But there's no reason to attack domestication of animals that clearly have been tamed over years of selective breeding. Now that doesn't mean I'm saying go out and buy a tiger. DON'T buy a tiger. Anyone who owns a REAL wild animal like a tiger or seal or something needs to be a very experienced expert and have it in their care for a very good reason.
I have been working with animals for years and these seem very healthy and well taken care of. Of course I would need to see them in action to form a full opinion, but the way I can see it there is no moral dilemma here.
I dont want to be rude but this is quite dangerous to the owners, animals, and nature. Garanted dogs and cats can attack people but these are wild animals the chance of attack is increased by a lot. I dont know what the big cat was that the women was holding but that does not seem safe in anyway.
I agree that these animals are beautiful and would be wonderful to see them up close. But when you think about it how is it fair to domesticate any more wild animals.
I just hope that these people are thinking there actions through not just for there own benefit but for the benefit of these beautiful animals.
Bahahahaha Max
Why was that firefox using IE
...And in those days, the lamb will lie down with the lion......
I have actually seen that on UTube. Also, our son has a dog and cat that not only sleep together, but actually groom one another Theseanimals are beautiful and also seem to be loving toward one another.

"Owning" a wild animal as a pet is simply irresponsible and detrimental to the environment, the animal, and yourself, so unless you are holding them for research purposes, it's not a very good decision. They may be cute and cuddly but you're not doing any good by keeping it as a pet.
Some wild animals can be easily "domesticated", some can't. It takes many generations of selective breeding, and you have to know what you are doing. I have mixed emotions about stuff like this. Yeah, it would be cool to have a pet fox. And domesticated animals, if properly cared for usually live longer, healthier and happier lives than their wild cousins. Mortality rates are very high for most wild animals. But then on the other hand, why do we always have to own everything that's cute? Isn't that just a little selfish? Why can't we love nature enough to just leave it alone sometimes? The animals in these pictures certainly look healthy and well-adjusted, and that's cool, as far as it goes. BUT what happens when people find out there is money to be made in pet foxes...? Don't we have enough problems with people abusing and abandoning "domesticated" cats and dogs and snakes and birds and such already? Do we have to add foxes to the mix as well?
"Well I don't care, it's cute and I want one!" THAT'S the problem. Just go down to the shelter, adopt a cat or a dog and pretend it's a fox, they're just as cute!
See what happens when you get me started? };-)
I can't say anything about the bear and bobcats either, but I know some things about the fox domestication. It started as a Russian experiment, where they selected the friendliest animals to continue breeding. After some fifty years of doing this they started to have completely tame foxes. I actually think I've seen some of those same foxes before, you can look it up on http://www.sibfox.com/ if you want.
I believe it's possible to domesticate all animals. It's just a matter of selecting the right traits. That's how we create our dog breeds and our horses and cats. But it is also true, that a wild animal can be dangerous (if it really is wild, that is). Some people has had real wolves at their homes, who were more or less like dogs as cubs and then became too wild to handle when growing up. Of course everyone of us know someone managed to tame them anyway, since they eventually became our dogs.
as beautiful as the photos are, i find it unacceptable that someone is breeding these creatures for financial gain. it is a common misconception to believe that if something is strange and beautiful you must own it. i would prefer to see any of these animals in the wild, even if it's just a glimpse, than to know they are being bred to make money. the deserve freedom and mystery.
They are gorgeous but I feel they would be happier in the wild. They at least look healthy and well cared for. I sure hope they are housebroken!
LOOOOOOVEEEE this!!!! They are so adorable! I want a fox...
To everyone who says that these animals cannot be domesticated, please remember that every animal we keep as pets, use for labor, or raise for meat, milk, or fur, was once a wild, and probably dangerous animal. If wild animals cannot be domesticated, where did our loving friends come from? And I agree with L.K., that Nat Geo article was amazing and informative. And the foxes it was written about were TAME.
why is everyone having an argument which can't be solved unless we talk to the owners?
can everyone just agree these pictures are adorable and move on?
Heh, apparently there's already been a Holly here saying pretty much what I was going to say.
True, we have dogs and cats that were domesticated thousands of years ago. Maybe we shouldn't have done that, but the past is the past. Now, we have companions that NEED us.
These are wild animals, and should never be considered as "pets". As awesome as the idea of having a "pet bear" or fox may seem, it's not a good one. Ever seen "Fatal Attractions"?
I'm not saying this man isn't taking good care of them, i'm saying he's endangering himself.
To all of those so adamantly opposed to the domestication of these animals:
At least they are being cared for. Take a look back throughout history. Take a look at your house pets. Where did they come from? The wild. They were domesticated at some point to allow you to enjoy their company in your home. It wasn't as though they started out that way. Humans took them in as cubs, pups, kittens, what have you and raised them and bred them to create the domestic breeds that exist today. These animals have a caring home and are obviously well taken care of. It's not like the greyhounds who are raced and then disposed of if someone doesn't rescue them. Or the bears taken and used in circus acts. Those animals are being mistreated. That is unethical. If a chipmunk decided to make friends with you and you fed it and it became a loved pet in the family would you be spending so much time criticizing others who have "wild" animals as pets? I agree that wild animals should probably stay in the wild. But I also agree with Some Person. If you are going to be anti-wild pets, then I suggest you not be a hypocrte and that you adopt an entirely anti-pet view. This, however, is also not helpful because domesticated animals need us to take care of them. They no longer have the ability to take care of themselves in a wild setting in most cases and if let loose would more than likely be picked off by a predator or a car. I say good for this person for taking care of these animals, allowing them companionship, a home, and a place to run.
These animals are beautiful, that's for sure. But they still are wild, and should remain so. Yeah, we'd all love to have them; but that doesn't change the fact that they are wild animals. It doesn't matter if they have been raised with people all their lives. It is not in their nature to be domesticated. Just my opinion.
Beautiful animals, but in no way should or can they be domesticated no matter what country.
Songlilly.
The thing about huskies is that they CAN be trained not to run off when not on a leash. It just takes a lot of patience. I have 2 11-year-old Siberian huskies who are from the same litter. Skyla can go without a leash and sometimes likes to run off, but that's only for food. She loves it too much. Her sister likes to run when given the chance, but she always comes back. They're good dogs to have.
keep all of your judgements to yourself, these animals obviously have outdoor space look at the pictures they also all seem generally happy,
i would love a fox as a pet and the can be domesticated
personally my husky doesnt require only running. do your research huskies are descendents of domesticated wolves from the chukchi tribe (that may be spelled wrong) but huskys more then anything need companionship. my husky doesnt run everyday but when im not around she will chew thru books and remotes.
its worse for sled dog cross breeding cuz they will breed huskies and grey hounds and create all sorts of genetic problems there. a pure bred husky from an AKC breeder is the safest bet. good for this person and thank you for the beautiful pics
agree somewhat with holly. they ARE indeed wild aninamls, a picture is only worth a thousand words. i imagine it takes a whole lot to raise them and care for them. better safe than sorry, thats all im saying. sure are gorgeous creatures.
Please please PLEASE stop breeding!! With all of the dogs being killed every DAY in the shelter, we do not need any more!
The foxes are cool though. Just no more Huskies. If you want a Husky-- do your homework first (For example: Huskies need to RUN, and can not be off leash) and RESCUE.
Ohh && P.S.-Russians ARE EXTREMELY caring towards animals.
(Unless of course they are being attacked by one. But then again, I wouldnt be to 'loving' if a giant Bear came at me.)
Quite honestly, this is adorable.! Ive always wanted a Fox. I used to 'own' a Bobcat, it was very friendly and slept outside. Though it would come in during the day and play or eat.
@ to Holly, I respect where your coming from. But, any animal, if raised correctly and with affection, can be quite friendly. Then again, they CAN become aggresive. Just like your 'cute' little Chihuahua.
I know that many westerners have a poor view of Russians in general, but I can attest for the Russian's love of animals. Most Russians I know regularly say that they would much quicker harm a human than an animal, a motto that can be heard throughout Russia. Russians take great pride in their animals, for the most part, and show them great respect.
While furs and leathers are common throughout Russia, animals bred for these purposes are raised in cages. Those that do the raising intentionally show no attachment to the animals.
The animals above, on the other hand, are obviously being cared for and loved. No Russian in their right mind would show that kind of affection to an animal knowing that they will be slaughtered in the future.
These are very expensive pets -- Not animals bred to be skinned. Russian scientists have been working on domesticating the fox for 50 years and these gentle animals are the result.

Having been raised with humans and socialized since birth they are unlikely to bite and will be excellent pets. However, no one should buy a bear or lynx and trust it 100% because of their nature. The foxes, are something else and would be excellent pets.
For all you people saying these are wild animals and could rip your face off... I suppose you don't say the same thing about large dog breeds? Or how about house cats? After all, I'm sure if they really wanted to, they could kill you too. Anyone who's anti-wild pets, should just be anti-pets altogether. Heck, 50 years down the road maybe we'll have more widely accepted domesticated foxes that show up in pet stores... would you hate it then? Come on people, they're just pets, and if they're happy with their owner who the hell cares what they are?
This man is most likely linked to the scientists who have been studying fox domestication for several decades. These would not be wild foxes, but domesticated ones, hence some of the coat patterns, like the husky type. If any one desires more reading on this subject, there is an article in the March 2011 of National Geographic. They are not wild animals, but domesticated (at least the foxes, I have no comment on the bear; the bobcats are probably also domesticated). If anyone desired to, they would most likely be able to handle a fox, however, one must remember that it IS an animal, and like all pets, one must treat it respectably--ensuring enough money to pay vet bills, feed it, take care of it.
holly....you're a crazy bitch
Or maybe, just maybe, now bear with me here, this person might just have a massive love for creatures such as these. I myself would love to own these precious babies even knowing the risk. But it looks to me like they are very happy and they have an outdoor enclosure and they seem to get along pretty well. Dont be so pessimistic. jesus.
Everybody PLEASE PLEASE remember that these are wild animals and NOT PETS for the average person. This guy had better have a massive outdoor enclosure, because I doubt that all of these creatures live in peace in his house. Hell, I know it. Also, to whom is he selling them? To the average homeowner? Fur traders? They may look sweet and docile, but a) these things can rip your face off in a second, and b) he might be rasing these cuties to send them to their death. It looks nice, but I doubt it's as heartwearming as the pictures make it seem. Sorry.
i'm a huge animal person, and have always wanted a fox. is it difficult to come to own them?
omg! i'm so jealous I would like to have many of those as pets also! i would love to play with them and just have fun :D.
great pictures.. but, animals are for sale?? to whom? for what???
People stop saying "husky/fox hybrids" that is not possible husky=Canie fox=Vulp while i will not say they are impossible it would be sxtrodanarly hard.
Domestic Foxes will start to take on traits simmilar to Domestic Dogs. Still i have to say i would love to go see or even own one of these.

That guy could easily charge kids to come in, treating his house like a petting zoo. I for one would pay good money to walk through his house for an hour or so, especially if I could bring my kid.
I wonder how much he charges for these exotic pets ... more importantly, how difficult is it to export them to the states?
I think they are just domesticated silver foxes not husky/fox hybrids
Looks like you crossed the fox with the Husky - why? Now you have a big, smart hybrid - that will never be tamed! Couldn't cross the cats? Oh well ...
Can I house sit for you guys sometime? This looks like the best place EVER!
