WEIRD: Cardboard Box Mom Sentanced to 90 Days in Jail
The Box Lady, or more formally known as Jackie Denise Knott, has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for 'forcing' her daughter to sit in a box on top of her minivan in order to hold the box in place while she drove home. Since the box wouldn't fit inside the minivan, I don't really see what the problem was. Jackie Knott should be rewarded for her ingenuity, and lauded for her entering her daughter in the ever growing field of extreme sports.
Lucky for Jackie Knott, the judge must have experience in riding with teenagers. As we all know, having a teenager in your car is comparable to having a rabid tiger in the front seat. Sympathetic to Jackie Knott's decision, of the 90 day sentence, the judge only required Jackie to spend 5 days in jail. He did, however, require Jackie to do 40 hours of community service as well as go to driving school.
While there is no question that teenagers can be a pain in the ass, especially when you are trying to drive, the law seems to frown on endangering the lives of said teenagers. Likewise, if you have an item too large to fit in your vehicle, using your teenager to hold down said item while you drive home may not be the best solution, unless you are doing so in the middle of the night utilizing streets that are either vacant of people, or have people that really could care less what it is you do (drug infested junkie streets come to mind).
So, let this be a lesson to all of you that may consider this type of move in the future. If you want to get your teenager out of the car, the roof is not a good idea if the teenager will be visible to other drivers on the road. And, if you have an item too big to fit in the car, a delivery service is always available.
