WORLD: Israel's Forces Pullout from Gaza
Israel's latest incursion into Gaza is now officially over. The ceasefire has been signed, and now agreed to by Hamas. Aside from a few stray rockets, things have been more or less peaceful. As most analysts predicted, this offensive ended as Barack Obama took office. This is being seen by many as George Bush's last offensive.
With the Palestinian death toll exceeding 1300, upwards of 5000 injured, almost 50,000 homeless, and devastation across all of Gaza, the people are distraught and humanitarian aid is direly needed. The UN is urging Israel to allow more aid trucks in to try and ease the crisis in Gaza.
The new push in this conflict is to setup an international force that will try and stem the smuggling of arms to Hamas. Currently, the USA and Egypt have committed themselves, and now the Israel's foreign minister Tzipi Livni is headed to Brussels to try and recruit more EU countries.
George Bush signed the agreement on his last day of office. He pledged US support for Israel's anti-smuggling deal, somewhat forcing Barack Obama's hand (although, for all practical purposes, Barack Obama would likely sign the deal as well). The USA will provide hardware to help assist allied countries in rooting out the smuggling operation on land and sea.
With Gaza completely devastated, it is vital for the Palestinian people to cease supporting their violent Hamas rulers. Hamas has shown little compassion for the Palestinian people, thinking solely of the destruction of Israel. As long as they remain in power, and as long as Palestinians support this type of violence towards Israel, there will never be peace.

They knock on a palestinians door and demand use of their home. In this situation the palestinian has no choice--either let them in or die. The palestinian people have no chioce in the matter (stuck literally between a rock and a hard place).
Hamas will be hard to get rid of. They are not organized in the usuall way. They gather in different locations-random houses, school buildings, any space that they can find-and they are recruting the young and dumb.
When you are born to war and grow up in war it is hard to imagine anything else. The people need to be educated and with that the ignorance will fade.

I think it is an old war practice to launch attack from civilian targets like schools, churches, mosques, hospitals, etc. Earlier they would empty the building and take over but now they keep women and children in the buildings all in the name of religion and jihad.
It does make me feel that religion is a very strong thing, where people can be made to do crazy things by misusing religious texts. Do you really think devout Christians will question their priests? or in Muslims questioning their clergy?
I really like Obama's part of the speech where he mentioned -
"To those leaders around the globe who seek to sow conflict or blame their society's ills on the West, know that your people will judge you on what you can build, not what you destroy."
