In a very sad incident, a suicidal gunman shot and killed a pastor (Pastor Fred Winters) in a First Baptist church in Maryville, IL during the Sunday morning service today (March 8th 2009). When the gun jammed while trying to kill himself, he began stabbing himself. Some parishioners tried to tackle him and received non-fatal stab wounds. The gunman is currently in critical situation.

The gunman, who was in serious condition and has not been identified, walked down the aisle of First Baptist Church in Maryville, Illinois at about 8:15 and shot pastor Fred Winters in the chest.

About 150 people were attending the service at the time of the shooting.
