WORLD:
Justice for Somer
Seven-year old Somer Thompson went missing on Monday when she was returning back from school. On Wednesday, her dead body was found in a landfill about 50 miles away in Georgia after investigators followed garbage trucks from her neighborhood.
Police are combing the sidewalk for clues where Somer was last seen.
Now as the search for a missing girl turns into the search for her killer, the garbage trucks may again play a pivotal role.
Investigators will presumably try to pinpoint the trash bin or garbage can where she was dumped, based on the trash around her and the truck's pickup route. That could hopefully help them piece together a better timeline and offer a firmer direction for the investigation.
Authorities have also interviewed 161 registered sex offenders living within a 5-mile radius of Somer's home but they have announced that they think that the killer doesn't belong to that group.
No arrests have been made.
Diena Thompson, center, mother of Somer Thompson, came on major TV networks.
Somer's mother, Diena Thompson, appeared red-eyed on all three network television morning shows to say she believes investigators will catch the unknown killer.
"We're coming for you. We'll get you, and hopefully justice will be served," she said on ABC's "Good Morning America."

This is a terrible tragedy. I truly hope that the person responsible isn't just brought to justice, but is made an example of. How anyone can justify killing a child is beyond me. These are the type of people that need to be removed from the gene pool.
