WORLD: Video: 7-year old missing baby found alive under sitter's bed
7-Month old Shannon Lea Dedrick who was reported missing 5 days back by her parents in rural part of the Florida panhandle was found alive under the bed of her babysitter Susan Elizabeth Baker. The baby went missing on Saturday morning between sometime between 3 a.m. and 11 a.m. that same day from her parents' bedroom.
The sheriff of Washington County in rural northwest Florida carried the 7-month-old girl into the early morning news conference, announcing, "We are the proud papas of a little girl."
"This is Shannon Lee Dedrick, we found her safe, we do not usually get the happy endings that we have happened here today," an emotional Sheriff Bobby Haddock said, cradling the baby as she clutched her pink pacifier.
"If you want to see a bunch of grown men cry, tonight we rushed her to the hospital and we [were] all calling home to our wives to let them know we found this baby safe."
The sitter, Susan Baker, her husband, James Baker, and another individual, Crystina Lynn Mercer, have been detained but have not been charged. Haddock has scheduled another news conference at noon ET (11 a.m. CT) to provide additional details.

The authorities were on a massive hunt for the missing baby.
The sheriff's office, with the help of approximately 75 search and rescue personnel as well as K-9 teams, spent the past five days scouring wooded areas and garbage cans for Shannon, who weighed just 11 pounds and was 2 feet tall. She couldn't walk or crawl.Source: abcnews.go.com
Not the first for Susan Baker. Makes you wonder, why wound anyone hire her as a babysitter, esp. with her history?
Susan Baker was convicted of assault in South Carolina in 1987, police said today, and sentenced to 10 years in prison. Her sentence was suspended after 80 days.
Baker was also questioned but not indicted in 2000 for a 3-year-old child's disappearance in 1987, according to the sheriff's office. The child, Paul Leonard Baker, was never found. The Associated Press reports that the boy was the Bakers' son and Susan Baker claimed he disappeared from her Beaufort, S.C., home while she was napping. A massive manhunt in the swampy area around the Bakers' home failed to find the boy.
Jay Golob, who lives about a block away from where the baby disappeared, said that he doesn't know the family but he's always felt secure in the neighborhood.
"It's a pretty safe area," Golob said. "We have so many people who live here with kids that everyone kind of keeps an eye on everyone."Source: abcnews.go.com
I wonder if there are more missing babies due to Susan Baker? What did she want from the baby?
Will keep you posted as details come out.

under the bed? thats not the best hiding place. next time, try under the rug. or in the shed.
what a looser

How can ababy was so silent and remain under the bed.

Many people say this baby has a disease (because of the size of his head and face). I think it may be true, but whatever it is that the mother has the exact same thing. Discover their faces. they are crazy near identical.
